Event Details

In the few months since assuming office, David Cameron has made an impact on the world stage. He has declared that Britain's relationship with the United States is 'solid not slavish', has called for a new 'special relationship' with India, caused controversy with his comments on Pakistan, welcomed Turkey's entry into the EU, put trading relations at the centre of foreign policy and started a defence review.

Britain is at a cross-roads regarding its global role, and the Coalition has to deal with the following issues:

- Should Britain remain involved in Afghanistan?

- Should the Coalition scrap Trident in its defence review?

- What is the legacy of Iraq in British foreign policy?

- Is Britain's relationship with the United States still 'special' or should it integrate more closely with the EU?

- How will the rise of China, India, Brazil and other emerging powers impact Britain's standing in the world?

- Is the Coalition right to pursue a trade based foreign policy or should Britain champion democracy and human rights?

G2G is pleased to welcome the following eminent and authoritative speakers to discuss this subject:

Sir Malcolm Rifkind MP – (Former British Foreign Secretary)

Jonathan Ford – (Chief Leader Writer, The Financial Times)

Robin Lustig – (Presenter, BBC World Service)
